Flash Flood Risk: Storm System With Heavy Downpours Sweeping Through Region

Localized flash flooding is possible as a cold front with heavy downpours and embedded thunderstorms moves through the region.

Friday will be mostly cloudy and humid throughout the day with a high temperature in the mid-70s. 

There will be showers and spotty storms during the morning with a chance of more isolated storms during the day and at night.

About an inch of rainfall is expected into Friday evening, with locally higher amounts.

After the system pushes through, a mainly dry weekend is expected.

The outlook for Saturday, Aug. 26 calls for partly sunny skies with a high temperature of around 80 degrees. There's a slight chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Sunday, Aug. 27 will be mostly sunny and pleasant with a high temperature in the mid-70s.

Monday, Aug. 28 will be mostly sunny with a high temperature in the mid to upper 70s before unsettled weather is expected to return overnight and into Tuesday, Aug. 29.
